Dog Friendly Guide to Northumberland
-This post is in collaboration with Haven-

The next trip for "Haven Directors of Walkies" has taken us way up north, to Northumberland, finding the best dog friendly spots for the dog friendly guide to Northumberland.

Never visiting this part of the country before, we were keen to get going and explore with Sev and Lily. filling our days with fun dog friendly adventures, from boating to beach swimming.

Bamburgh
A short drive from the Haven park to Bamburgh, a sweet town with a beautiful castle and a dog friendly beach. The beach is long and sandy, so great for the dogs to run around and splash in the sea. The town is scattered with cute cafes and pubs, and the weather was great to sit outside but there were many were dog friendly places if this wasn't the case.
Not being able to keep away from the picture perfect town, visiting again later in the trip for a spot of Afternoon Tea. The Victoria Hotel is dog friendly with a gorgeous bar area that offers lovely afternoon tea for humans, and much fusses and plenty of water. The Victoria Hotel also offers lunch, dinner and drinks, with a lovely outside area and cosy inside space.

Keilder Water and Forest Park
Northumberland National Park is stunning, and a must visit when out exploring new places. As soon as the road starts winding and the woodland gets thicker, it's truly stunning. Finding Keilder Water and Forest Park was a great place to stop for a walk, with many places through the national park and forest that can be accessed for a dog walking adventure.
This site is great for parking and has a cafe and information centre too. It overlooks a gorgeous lake, with large walks, in and out of woodland areas where Sev and Lily could paddle.

Warkworth
A pretty town set upon the River Coquet, another great example of the gorgeous Northumberland castles with the winding river around the walls, a must for the dog friendly guide to Northumberland. A short wander through took us down to the river where the sun was shining, which was the perfect time to hire a row boat for an hour. The dogs were welcomed on the boat, although to themchasing the ducks may have been more of interest.

Warkworth also has a dog friendly beach, which is a quick drive away from town, and brings you to a lovely sandy beach, perfect to cool off with a swim in the sea.

Day Trip to Edinburgh
As Northumberland is on the boarder to Scotland, it was a great chance to take a trip to visit the sights of Edinburgh. Although we want to visit more of the Highlands, this was a great chance to experience Scotland whilst staying at a Haven Park.

First stop was Arthurs seat, a great hike to overlook the City where the dogs can run around the rolling hills and enjoy the fresh air. With the weather being warm and Sev and Lily being the priority we didn't hike to the top, and stopped somewhere close for drinks and treats for us all.
Holyrood 9a is a cool dog friendly bar and restaurant that serves amazing burgers and cocktails- exactly what was needed.

One more stop off, and a great visit for the dog friendly guide to Northumberland, is the John Muir Country Park. A real must for any dog family, situated on the coast, with beautiful woodlands that makes way to a gorgeous sandy beach.

Where to Stay
Haven's Haggerston Castle Holiday Park has been our favourite from the whole tour, the caravan was situated overlooking a lake and just a stone's throw away from a gorgeous open field area for the dogs to stretch their legs- something that is much appreciated early in the morning and late at night.
